Middle Berth Sleeping Hours Rule
As per official Indian Railways regulations, passengers allotted the Middle Berth are entitled to sleep from 10:00 PM to 06:00 AM. During daytime (06:00 AM to 10:00 PM), middle berths must be folded up so lower berth passengers can sit comfortably.
Senior Citizen & Women Quota Allocation
Indian Railways computer reservation system (PRS) automatically earmarks 6–7 lower berths per Sleeper coach and 4–5 lower berths per 3A/2A coach for male senior citizens (60+ years) and female passengers (45+ years) travelling alone.
